BEAUTY WITH NUTS
If there is one nut that is particularly good for skin, it is almonds. It
is one of the most natural moisturisers and they have high contents of vitamin
E. Almond oil can be used for dark circles and excessively dry skin. To
make an excellent face wash, powder the almonds and mix with fresh cream
or cold milk. Apply this mixture on your face and neck, leave on for five
minutes and wash well with cold water. You will feel fresh and smooth after
this face wash.
BEAUTY WITH CABBAGES
Did you know that cabbage is rich in minerals and vitamins?
Next time you are boiling cabbage, don't throw the left over water. Wash
your face with this water, your skin will feel smoother.
BENEFITS OF CUCUMBER
This is one vegetable that is easily available in most countries and in
most kitchens. And this vegetable can benefit your skin in more ways than
one. Which is why it is widely used by cosmetics manufacturers in tonics,
masks, creams and ointments.
Cucumbers help to:

What is really nice about cucumbers is that you can use them easily at

Carrots As Cleansers!
Carrots can be used as a natural cleanser. Raw grated carrots can be used
to cleanse the skin and leave it soft and supple. It is an excellent antiseptic
and is used widely in creams for dry skins.
GIVE YOUR SKIN A ROSY GLOW
1. Use rose water (prepared by boiling fresh petals) instead of plain
water as a base for your homemade skin treatments.
2. Prepare a rose facemask by grinding a handful of petals into a paste.
Apply on clean skin and leave the application on for 20 minutes. Then
wash with plain water. Do not use soap. This mixture will leave your complexion
smooth and glowing.
TREAT YOUR SKIN TO TOMATOES
They are a treat really. Tomatoes are slightly acidic in nature and contain
potassium and vitamin C. TOMATOES ARE EXCELLENT FOR OILY SKINS AND HELP
THE SKIN FEEL CLEANER AND TIGHTER, AS WELL AS REDUCE OPEN PORES AND BLACKHEADS.
Cut the tomato in half and rub on the skin. Leave on for at least fifteen
minutes to let the skin feed on the juice and so that it saturates into
the pores. Wash off with water.
WINTER CARE WITH POTATOES
With age the skin gets dry naturally. If proper care is not taken during
winter wrinkles may appear pretty fast. You may prevent this with the help
of a potato. Simply grate it and squeeze out the juice. To this mix the
juice of a lime. Soak a piece of cotton in the mixture and apply the mixture
to your face and neck. Allow the mixture to dry till you feel the pull on
the skin. Wash off with luke warm water. For a pimpled skin do not use this
pack since the acidic lime juice may aggravate the pimples on the skin.
BANANAS FOR SKIN NOURISHMENT
Banana is an excellent skin nourisher in the form of a facemask. Here's
what a banana treatment can do:
Tighten and soften the skin.
Cleanse the pores.
Invigorate the skin.
Lave it flawless.
To Apply: Mash a banana and add the juice of half a lemon. Refrigerate
for ten minutes and apply all over the face. Leave on for half an hour
and wash off. This can be used on all types of skin.
Easy Homemade Face Masks with Egg
Normal Skin: Beat the yolk of an egg with a few drops of lemon juice and
half a teaspoon of olive oil. Apply this mixture evenly on your face and
keep for fifteen minutes. Rinse with cold water and dry gently.
Greasy skin: Take one lightly beaten egg white and add two teaspoons of
cornflour and mix until creamy but not too thick. Apply gently on your
face (careful not on your eyes and eyelids) and leave to dry. When your
face starts to pull strongly rinse with warm water.
Dry and delicate skin: Make a thin paste with the yolk of an egg, some
fresh orange juice, a few drops of lemon juice and almond oil. Apply the
mask on your face, leave for fifteen minutes and then remove with cotton
wool soaked in warm water.
For combination skin, use dry pack on dry parts and vice-versa for the
oily parts.
Banana for Dry and Apple for Oily skin
Here are a couple of real cool fruity aids for your skin. Use these for
instant nourishment and glow:
Dry Skin Banana Treat:
Mash one banana
Add a spoonful of rosewater
2 drops glycerine.
Store this mixture in a bottle and refrigerate, and use over the entire
week. Apply evenly over face, leave it for half an hour and wash off with
lukewarm water.
Oily Skin Apple Treat:
Peel and mash an apple in a blender
Apply the mashed apple on face for half an hour, and wash with lukewarm
water.
A Rich Skin Food From Your Kitchen
Other than being a rich source of protein, egg is a rich skin food too.
Use it according to your skin type to bring out a new, sparkling you:
Add a spoonful of honey and two spoonfuls of rose water to an egg
yolk. Refrigerate the mix and apply it to the face once a week as a rejuvenating
mask.
The white of the egg is known to work magic on wrinkles. Beat the
egg white with three teaspoons of oat powder and a spoonful of honey and
apply on the face.
If you have a chronic problem with dry skin, beat in two spoonfuls
of orange juice, a teaspoon of lemon juice and a few drops of almond oil
into an egg yolk. Apply the paste on your face for an hour before rinsing
it off.
COCONUT CLEANSER FOR FAIRER, SMOOTHER SKIN
Tired of sporting the dark, dry, unkempt look? A little ingenuity could
well light up your life. You will require:
½ cup coconut oil
5 teaspoons almond oil
4 teaspoons beeswax (available at any herb shop)
4 teaspoons cucumber juice (grate cucumber, wrap it in a muslin cloth
and squeeze out the juice)
A pinch of borax
Melt the oil and wax in a double boiler. Warm the cucumber juice and borax
in a separate bowl until borax is completely dissolved. Mix the contents
of both the containers and whisk till mixture turns stiff. Now store the
cleanser in an airtight container. This homemade cleanser effectively
rids the skin of dirt and grime. What's more? It even adds a glow to the
skin.
TACKLING OIL WITH TOMATOES
Tomatoes and lime is all it takes to say bye-bye to that over-worked oil
factory look. Since both are acidic, they help curb excessive oiliness
on the epidermis. Mix tomato and lemon juice and massage it (in circular
motions) into the skin. This will not only help in removing the excessive
oiliness, but the skin will also feel taut and nourished, repeat every
alternate days for best results.
AN AMAZING OVERNIGHT CREAM
An overnight cream is the most essential ingredient in skin care. You
can make some really great and effective overnight cream at home. Mix
a tablespoon of honey with one egg white to which five drops of almond
oil have been added. Refrigerate the mix. Massage a thin film of this
mix into the skin every night to reveal a new radiant you!
FRUIT MIRACLES
Strawberries, (you could replace these with other fleshy fruit like papayas
or mangoes) have great cleansing properties. Whisk in some amount with
curds or sour cream and apply on face and neck. Leave on for a few minutes
and rinse off with cold water to reveal a glowing, tender you.
Fruity Punch For A Glowing Face
All it takes is a few season fruit to restore that perfect glow on your
face. Here are a few time-tested remedies that are absolutely hassles
free. As a bonus we even share secrets to pearly whites!
. Blend equal quantities of strawberries, pear, grapes, apples and orange
in a blender. Apply a thin film of honey on face and apply this deliciously
good fruit mask. Let it stand for 30 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
. Powder orange peels and blend in curds. Apply on scarred or pigmented
areas and wash off after 15 minutes with cold water.
.Grind equal quantities of orange and lime peels and sprinkle some baking
soda and salt. Store this in an airtight container and use like tooth
powder while brushing.
